With just the cup to come at the end of August, U11s are developing into a very good team

The u11s regular season came to an end last week with a very good win at Luctonians to register the 5th victory out of 6 games played

In that time, we beat Wormelow twice, Dales, Luctonians and Bromyard and lost the first fixture against Luctonians at home.

The team really are continuing to improve, especially in fielding, batting and running and the hard work put in by all the team in training is clear.

The team spirit is also excellent, with the team members backing each other up unfailingly, having a lot of fun in the process.

As you all know we have several players completely new to cricket this year, hailing mostly from Hampton Dene school, home of the famous Hampton Dene Hoick, tirelessly coached into those cricketers by our own Simon Davies. We are pleased to report that after coaching it out of them, these players are going to turn into quite good batters!

Tyler, Johnny, Alex and Lewis have all put in good performances with bat and ball and have proved great additions to the team.

Our experienced members continue to grow too and lead by example. Albie, Seth, Sam, Lucas and Austin have all really stepped their boiling up over the last few weeks and we are bowling more wicket balls and more maidens.

Rosie, Jess, Harriet and Marnie have all made great contributions too. Jess and Rosie are clearly benefiting from Herefordshire county cricket and are amongst the best fielders and it is hard to believe that Harriet and Marnie haven’t played much cricket before.

On the batting front we are maturing too and hitting more fours including (Yes! really!) off drives and cuts …. Obviously the coaches‘ influence if team manager Tim’s batting style
Is anything to go by. Patience and maturity is improving at the wicket, with fewer wickets being thrown away and much better calling. Pinch hitter Jack is scoring runs at the top of the order (and would score more if he watched the ball and not the sky ?), and Fraser is expertly managing the last pair to victory…. He doesn’t get out much. All the other players are contributing too. In the last match we had 6 players with not outs against their name. Fantastic!

We can’t finish the report without a big shout out to Charlie Badham who kept for the first time In the second match against Wormelow. With usual keeper Jack on county duty, Charlie volunteered to do the gloves and after a slow start put in a brilliant performance. Definitely a Jos Buttler in the making.

Head coach Nick Ashton has been a fantastic leader, aided by Tim, putting together interesting and varied session, each of which hones specific skills.
